![]() ![]() Will you commit to love your pastor, praying for him rather than complaining about him, honoring him as one who labors in Word and doctrine for the good of your soul and recognizing him as the shepherd God has given you? 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 1 Timothy 5:17 Hebrews 13:17.Will you commit to give sacrificially of your time, resources, and energies to the work of the church, employing your spiritual gifts for the edification of the church and the exaltation of Jesus Christ? Ephesians 5:16 Matthew 6:19-20 Acts 21:13 1 Corinthians 12:11. ![]() Will you commit to faithfully attend the preaching of the Word of God in corporate worship and receive the Word, not as the word of men, but as what it really is, the Word of God? Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Thessalonians 2:13-14.Will you commit to honor the Scripture by recognizing it as God’s inerrant, all–sufficient, living and authoritative Word? 2 Timothy 3:16 2 Peter 1:21 Matthew 4:4 Hebrews 4:12.“As each one received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10 ![]() “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” Hebrews 10:24-25 “But now God has set the members, each one to them, in the body just as He pleased.” 1 Corinthians 12:18 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” In fact, I recently used this for the installation of Rob Pochek as the new pastor of FBC Charlottesville on Park Street. Below for your consideration is a sample of the covenantal commitments I have used when I have had the blessing to lead a pastor/congregation and new pastor in an installation service. ![]() Another benefit is that when the installation service is done well it reminds everyone that each person has a vital role to play as the church moves forward for the glory of Christ. The formality of an installation service communicates that something significant is taking place and that is marks a new day and direction in the life of the church. I have noticed more churches have installation services when they call a new pastor and I consider this a healthy trend. ![]()
